What Is The Kroger Rx Savings Club?

The Kroger Savings Club was created in 2018 and reduces prices on over a thousand medications.

Kroger has partnered with GoodRx to offer this program.

The membership is not insurance but rather a prescription discount plan.

Anyone can join the club regardless of if they have insurance, no insurance, or pre-existing conditions.

The individual membership costs $36 for the year, and a family of up to 6 people will pay $72.

Pets also have access to the family plan.

According to Kroger, the average individual membership will save $461 a year, while the family membership will save $1,064.

Pros Cons
✅ Available at over 2,000 Kroger pharmacies
❌ Must pay membership fee to join
✅ Over 100 generic prescriptions for under $12
❌ Prices are not guaranteed
✅ Over 1,000 prescription discounts in total
❌ Other pharmacies offer lower prices at times.

How Does the Kroger Savings Club Work?

Before you can start saving on prescriptions with the Kroger discount program, you must sign up for an account.

There is no option to pay monthly, so you will need to pay the entire $36 single-member fee or the $72 family membership upfront.

You can sign up on the Kroger Savings Club website here.

Once you are signed up, the membership will go into effect immediately.

How to Get your Discount

When you pick up your medication at one of the Kroger pharmacies, you will need to give the pharmacist one of the following credentials.

You can provide your Kroger Prescription Club card, which will arrive within 30 days of signing up.

If you are still waiting for your card to come in the mail, you can print a temporary card here.

Or show the pharmacist your confirmation email when your medication is ready.

Is the Kroger Rx Savings Club Worth it?

We reviewed some of the most popular prescriptions against the Kroger Rx Savings card.

The results showed that purchasing a Kroger discount membership would be worth it for those loyal to Kroger pharmacies. Also, the membership is a good purchase if you have a monthly prescription on their generic drug list.

If your prescription requires the drug’s brand name, there was no considerable difference between the Kroger Savings Club and other discount cards like SingleCare.

Lower Price at Other Pharmacies

Sometimes, using another discount card at different pharmacies (other than Kroger) can save you even more money than the Kroger Savings Club can provide.

For example, Kroger Savings Club offers Adderall (Generic) for $14.88, while another pharmacy can provide an Adderall coupon for $10.13

Are there any Program Restrictions?

There is a hand full of program restrictions that should be noted.

The prices are not locked in: Even though the price is a specific rate when you sign up, that does not protect you from rate increases in the future.

Not available in Washington State: The Kroger prescription discount program is not available in the state of Washington.

Not available with FSA or HSA expenses: You cannot use this membership as an FSA or HSA cost. However, the eligibility and enrollment guidelines say you can generally use the funds to pay for prescriptions purchased at the pharmacy.

Pets and Kroger Rx Savings Club

To add your pet to the membership, you will need to purchase the family plan, which costs $72 a year. A valid prescription from the vet is required.

The membership cannot be used with pet-only medications like tick or flea treatments.

In Conclusion

The Kroger Rx Savings Club offers discounted prices on over 1,000 medications and offers over 100 generic medicines for under $12.

To be eligible for these discounts, you must sign up for the membership, which costs $36 for an individual member and $72 for a family plan.

You will receive your discount card in the mail within 30 days of signing up and will also have the option of getting a temporary card.

The membership will work at any Kroger Co. family pharmacy and auto-renews every 12 months.

GoodRx powers the Kroger Discount Savings Club, which helps offer rock-bottom prices on specific generic drugs.
